The Argentine manager of reigning Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid, Diego Simeone, commented on their 0-2 defeat to Liverpool in the fourth round of the UEFA Champions League group stage.
"Liverpool must be given credit. They started the match excellently and scored goals as a result of beautiful and fast combinations. And after that, they created more [scoring] opportunities and felt more confident.
We also had a few [scoring] opportunities. At the beginning of the first half, [Yannick] Carrasco could have scored a goal after the corner. But Liverpool scored a goal, and then our player was sent off. It was much more difficult [for us] after that," Simeone said, according to the UEFA website.
In Group B, Liverpool have amassed 12 points and secured a spot at the Round of 16 two matches before the end of the group stage. Porto are second, with 5 points, Atletico are third, with 4 points, whereas Milan are last, with just 1 point.
