Yoan Gouffran, the 35-year-old French midfielder and captain of FC Ararat-Armenia of Yerevan, has issued a farewell message, the club's press service reports.
"I want to thank all the coaches, doctors and masseurs, players, fans, and the entire staff of the club for my time spent in Armenia. I will always be grateful that you helped me return to football.
I have been playing football for 18 years, and now I want to be with my family and, at the same time, give my body a worthy rest.
I hope you will understand me and respect my decision.
The time has come to retire from football.
You will remain in my heart forever. I am leaving Armenia with vivid memories.
I wish you all the best.
Keep the bar high and win this year's championship!
This was my last dance.
God bless you all," Gouffran wrote.
In June, Ararat-Armenia had extended his contract until June 30, 2022.
