Ukraine scored its first gold medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo after Zhan Beleniuk was declared champion in the 87 kg at the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament. The 2016 Olympics vice-champion competed with Europe’s champion, world’s vice-champion, Hungarian Victor Lorinz in the final and won 5-1.
Germany’s Denis Kudla and the Serbia team’s Zurabi Datunashvili took bronze medals in this weight category.
Ukraine has also scored 2 silver medals and 8 bronze medals at the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
