NEWS.am Sport continues to present its Olympic VLOG program about Armenia’s athletes who have qualified for the 32nd Summer Olympics to be held in Tokyo.
Simon Martirosyan, weightlifter, 109kg category
He was born on February 17, 1997 in Haykashen village in Armavir Province of Armenia.
Martirosyan is a 2016 Rio Olympics silver medalist, 2018 World Champion and record holder, 2017 European Champion, World Youth Championship champion, World Student Games champion, European U21 champion and record holder, European U24 champion and record holder, 2019 European and World Champion, world record holder, and 2019 European U24 champion.
He was among Armenia’s 2019 top ten athletes of the year.
The Armenian national weightlifting team has achieved two—one for men and one for women—qualifications for Tokyo 2020.
Simon Martirosyan will compete in Tokyo on August 3.
