Mauro Guevgeozian failed to join Armenia because of a ticket problem

By Vera Martirosyan

Armenia national football squad’s Uruguayan-Armenian forward Mauro Guevgeozian is disappointed with football federation's refusal to buy a business class ticket so that he could join Armenian squad, he told NEWS.am Sport.

This is the reason the forward will not join Armenia for the EURO 2016 qualifying match against Serbia that will take place in Yerevan on October 11. Earlier the 28-year-old player also missed the qualifying match against Denmark.

Mauro has not been commenting on the reasons for a long time, but now he decided to dismiss reports alleging he missed the matches because of documentation problems.

“I have not come, since I had to spend 20 hours in the air flying to Yerevan from Peru, and I asked for a business class ticket. I got a refusal, and it was a great disappointment. I do want to play for Armenia. The only thing I asked was to get there in a convenient way,” he told NEWS.am Sport correspondent.

Mauro Guevgeozian and Armenian Football Federation had a problem with ticket last year when the forward failed to join the national squad.
