Armenia forward joins FC Shakhter Karagandy

By Vera Martirosyan

Armenia forward Gevorg Ghazaryan will be loaned to FC Shakhter Karagandy, champion of Kazakhstan.

“The reason for leaving Metallurg is that I was not given a lot of playing time there,” Ghazaryan said in an interview with NEWS.am Sport. “I’m not happy about it. I went on loan and signed a five-month contract. I moved to the Kazakh club not because of money, but in order to be constantly in good shape. They showed a good attitude, and I am ready to do my best for my new club.”

Ghazaryan noted that his new club has become champions of Kazakhstan for two consecutive years and will appear in the Champions League. The player said he would decide whether he would join the Kazakhs club in five months after his loan contract expires.

Asked about alleged conflict with Metallurg head coach, Ghazaryan said he had no problems with anyone. “They did not explain why I am not playing.”

Ghazaryan, who is leaving for Kazakhstan on June 20, hopes to have much playing time in a new club “that will help my performance for the Armenian national.”
