Armenia’s Aronian starts unsuccessfully

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champion Armenian national team and who is currently ranked second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Ratings—started unsuccessfully in the Alexander Alekhine Memorial chess tournament.In the first round of the event, Aronian lost to Ding Liren of China; the match ended in the 46th move.  

As NEWS.am Sport informed earlier, the first five rounds of this tournament will be held between Sunday and April 25 at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, and the final four will take place from April 28 to May 1 at the Russian State Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia.The prize money of the competition is 100,000 euros.
