Daniil Medvedev, the fourth ranked player in the world, reached the quarter-finals of the Masters tournament held in Madrid.
He defeated Alexander Bublik, the 18th world ranked player from Kazakhstan, 7:6 (7:3), 6:4.
Medvedev's quarter-final opponent will be the winner of a showdown between former world number one Rafael Nadal of Spain and 31st-ranked Czech Jiri Lehecka.
World No. 8 ranked player Andrey Rublev of Russia also reached the quarter-finals after defeating 25th ranked player Talon Griekspor of the Netherlands 6-2, 6-4.
Rublev's next opponent will be the winner of the clash between world No. 24 Jan-Lennard Struff of Germany and world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
Russia's Karen Khachanov, the 17th ranked player in the world, will compete with Italy's Jannik Sinner, the second ranked player in the world, for a place in the quarter-finals.
The prize money at the Madrid Masters is 7.8 million euros.
