Canoe local tournament: hot struggle in Yerevan Lake

YEREVAN. - Armenia holds canoe and rowing tournaments annually, but it leads to nowhere. There are no conditions for trainings, Armenian Rowing Federation head Hratchik Khudoyan told Sport adding the canoe and rowing tournament kicks off on Saturday in Yerevan Lake.

The tournament features 70 athletes from Yerevan, Hrazdan, Sevan and Armavir cities, as well number of groups. There are several categories, including canoes in 1,000 m and 200 m distances.

Among the winners are Vladik Alaverdyan, Davit Harutyunyan, Armen Malkhasyan-sculls, Hayk Arakelyan-canoe, and among teams first are Sevan sport center athletes (double canoe).

The tournament will continue on Sunday as well, while winners will participate in the Canoe Polo World Championships in Croatia, scheduled for June 20.
