Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian faced GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) in Friday’s Round 3 at the Sinquefield Cup chess tournament which is held in Saint Louis, USA. In the end, however, Aronian—who is second in the World Chess Federation (FIDE) rankings and who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—lost to his French opponent in the 38th move
. As a result, Vachier-Lagrave equaled Levon Aronian in the point standings, and with 1.5 points.
