Dommaraju Gukesh wins FIDE Candidates Tournament

Grandmaster Dommaraju Gukesh (India) has won the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Candidates Tournament 2024 that wrapped up Sunday in Toronto, Canada.

In the last round, Gukesh drew with Hikaru Nakamura and took the first place, with 9 points out of 14 possible.

Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura (USA) as well as Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia) finished half a point behind.

Gukesh will vie for the world title against the reigning world champion, Ding Liren (China).
