Armenia's young tennis players become silver medalists in Turkey

Arno Avetisyan and Khachatur Avetisyan, members of the Armenian national youth tennis team, took second place in the doubles competition at the European 14&U Development Championships held in Antalya, Turkey, informs the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia

In the same age group, Armenia's Maria Azizyan and Gayane Bznuni reached the semifinals in the girls’ doubles, where, however, they lost.

And Armenia's Samvel Gevorgyan reached the semifinals in the boys’ U12 competition.

Representatives of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Georgia, North Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Turkey, and several other countries also took part in the tournaments.

According to Gevorg Karamanukyan, Executive Director of the Armenian Tennis Federation, the young tennis players of the country had satisfying competitions.

"Our young tennis players are really achieving good results and play qualitatively quite successful matches. Nevertheless, we perform more successfully in doubles, but I am sure we will improve the results in singles as well and we will be able to repeat Mikayel Avanesyan’s indicator. In the 20-year history of the European Development Championship, only Avanesyan among the representatives of Armenia became the winner of the singles in 2022," says Karamanukyan.

From March 11 to 23, the International Tennis Federation’s U18 boys’ and girls’ ranking tournament is being held in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia, in which more than 100 tennis players from 28 countries are competing.
