Armenia’s chess masters start World Women’s Championship with win

Armenian GM Elina Danielian and WGM Lilit Mkrtchian achieved wins in first round of the World Women’s Chess Championship, which kicked off Sunday in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia.

In Round 1, Danielian and Mkrtchian defeated Sopiko Khukhashvili and Ketevan Arakhamia-Grant respectively.

A total of 64 chess players from 33 countries are competing in the World Women’s Chess Championship, and the event’s prize money is $450,000.
