Former world boxing champion Murat Gassiev gets Armenia citizenship

Murat Gassiev from Russia (Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia), the former world champion in the first heavyweight division of professional boxing, WBA and IBF, has received Armenian citizenship, reports the website of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia.

A professional boxing evening will take place Friday at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concerts Complex in the Armenian capital Yerevan, in the main event of which Gassiev will face Mike Balogun (USA).

Gassiev is the current WBA Asia and EBP Eurasia heavyweight champion. Murat Gassiev has confirmed the possibility of entering the ring under the flag of Armenia in the future.
