Paralympics cauldron lit in London

The XIV Paralympics cauldron was lit in the Trafalgar Square in downtown London. UK PM David Cameron, London Mayor Boris Johnson and chairman of the organizing committee of the 2012 Games Sebastian Coe participated in the solemn ceremony.

London marathon participant Claire Lomas lit the Paralympic cauldron. The ceremony participants took the fire to the Royal Opera House.

The one-day race of the Paralympic Games fire will kick off on Aug. 28, where 580 torchbearers will participate. The opening ceremony of the Paralympics-2012 will take place at the Stratford London Stadium, BBC reports.
