Сборная Англии впервые выиграла женский чемпионат Европы. В финале команда Англии взяла верх над сборной Германии со счетом 2:1.

В полуфинале Англия оказалась сильнее команды Швеции - 4:0, Германия обыграла сборную Франции - 2:1.
