Liverpool forward is formally charged with making bets

00:34   13 November, 2018

Liverpool forward Daniel Sturridge has been charged by the English Football Association (FA) with misconduct for alleged breaches of its betting rules.

Under the FA rules, footballers are prohibited from making bets.

According to the results of an FA investigation, however, Sturridge twice violated that rule in January.

Also, the FA claims that the player had provided information that was subsequently used during bets.
The England international has been given until November 20 to respond to the charge. He faces a fine and a suspension.

Liverpool stated that Daniel Sturridge does not accept the charges. But the club will make an official statement once thoroughly looking into the matter.
