Armenian judoka Arsen Galstyan’s Olympic gold for Russian team is a very important and precious symbol for those who value Armenia-Russia cooperation, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan said in Moscow after the talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

One of the journalists noted that Galstyan, Armenian by origin, was the first athlete to win gold for Russia.

“We congratulate all the athletes on success in the Olympics regardless of their nationality. We are proud of our athletes. It is still early to speak about the final results as the Games are in a full swing. Anyway, I congratulate those who have already performed perfectly,” Putin said.

“For all those for who Armenian-Russian cooperation is dear, Galstyan’s victory is a very important and precious symbol. This proves once again that we are more powerful together,” Sargsyan added.
