Mexico’s Rafael Márquez retires from professional football

Mexico defender Rafael Márquez has announced the end of his professional football career.

The 39-year-old player took part in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, thus becoming the first footballer to captain his country in five world cups.

He went on Twitter and thanked his fans for their support.

Now, Márquez will start administrative work at Atlas football club of Mexico.
