Fernando Hierro: Nobody wins easily at World Cup

Spain national football squad manager Fernando Hierro commented on their 2018 FIFA World Cup group match against Iran, which they beat by a score of 1-0.

“Nobody is winning easily at the World Cup, we’ve had it as hard as we thought,” he explained in a post-match interview, reported MARCA newspaper of Spain. “It’s difficult to get into a rhythm with so much interruption. At half time we corrected some things and improved after the goal.”

“Equality is at its maximum in this World Cup,” Hierro added. “Iran are a great team, with clear ideas. [Iran manager Carlos] Queiroz has been working with them for seven years and they won’t make things easy for anyone.

“I’m proud of my players.”
