Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling, Russia’s Roman Vlasov said runner-up Arsen Julfalakyan was his idol.

“I feel well. I’d like to thank my coaches, parents, brother and wife. As to my opponent, Arsen Julfalakyan was my idol, I like his style. I was happy to fight against him in the 2011 European championships. It was a tough bout but I managed to gain victory,” he said after the Sunday final in the 74 kilogram category.

He also called Alexander Karelin his “number one idol”, Russian Чемпионат.com website reports.

“I am happy I could learn watching his trainings and became an Olympic champion,” he added.
