Ibrahimovic blames Swedish media for his World Cup absence

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has blamed the Swedish media for his absence from his squad in Russia-hosted FIFA World Cup, Sky Sports reported.

“This is the Swedish media mentality. I don't have a typical Swedish name. I'm not the typical Swedish attitude, behaviour and that and still I have the record in the national team. I think it's the biggest party in football, playing in the World Cup. All the best players are there. Zlatan is not there so… he should have been there. But he's not there,” a 36-year-old football player said.

As reported earlier, Ibrahimovic ended his Sweden career after Euro 2016, but said he would return to the squad ahead of 2018 World Cup.

Swedish squad will face South Korea (June 18), Germany (June 23) and Mexico (June 27) in the 2018 World Cup group stages.
