Mikel Arteta may replace Arsene Wenger
14:05 16 May, 2018Mikel Arteta is the main candidate to replace Arsenal Wenger as Arsenal head coach, The Guardian reported.
Arteta is a former Arsenal captain who played for the club from 2011 to 2016. Since July 2016, a 36-year-old Artera has been working as a coach at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola.
Pep Guardiola, in his turn, noted he would not stand in Arteta’s way if Arsenal come calling.
Barcelona was also negotiating with Barcelona ex-coach Luis Enrique. Luis Enrique's position as the main candidate to succeed Arsene Wenger in Arsenal have failed due to the coach's high wage demands, while Juventus coach Massimilano Allegr said he would accept Arsenal’s proposal but on the one condition- hierarchy over their power structure and transfer policy. Meanwhile, New York city coach Patrick Vieira considered Arsenal leadership move formal.
A 68-year-old Arsene Wenger headed Arsenal since 1996. He has won a total of 17 titles and has overseen three Premier League title wins in Arsenal.
