Police offer Michael Oliver support after social media abuse on Juventus penalty

The UK police offered support to referee Michael Oliver following social media abuse after Juventus and Real Madrid Champions League match, Mirror reported.

The referee and his wife, Lucy received threats from Juventus fans on the phone and online.

As reported earlier, English referee Michael Oliver awarded Real Madrid penalty, while Juventus goalkeeper Buffon rushed toward Oliver immediately after the call and quickly got a red card. Juventus were dumped out of the Champions League after Real Madrid beat Juventus(agg: 4-3) in the Champions League quarter-final.
