Candidates Tournament 2018: Aronian suffers second defeat

Levon Aronian suffered his second defeat in the Candidates Tournament 2018, which is held in Berlin.

Aronian lost to U.S. player Wesley So in the sixth round of the tournament.  Aronian has 2.5 points and shares 6-7 lines with So.

In the previous rounds, Aronian drew with Ding Liren (China), Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) and Alexander Grischuk (Russia). The Armenian player defeated Sergey Karjakin (Russia) and lost to former champion Vladimir Kramnik (Russia).

The Candidates Tournament is an eight-player double round chess tournament held in Berlin, Germany, from 10–28 March 2018. The winner earns the right to challenge the defending world champion Magnus Carlsen in the World Chess Championship 2018 in London in November.
