Arsène Wenger: We did the job to qualify for round of 16

Despite losing at home by a score of 1-2 to Östersund (Sweden) in their round of 32 return leg, Arsenal’s French manager Arsène Wenger said his team’s performance at this stage of the tournament was well.

The Gunners have advanced to the Europa League round of 16, owing to their 3-0 win in Sweden in the round of 32 first leg.

“We were not at the races in the first half,” BBC quoted Wenger as saying. “I think in the second half it was much better and we should have scored a few goals.

“In the first half we were in trouble and in danger because we were complacent, not focused and were open every time we lost the ball. We had no ideas with the ball and that’s why we were in trouble.

“We responded very well because we did the job to qualify, but that’s what we have to take from the night and that’s all.”

The draw for the Europa League round of 16 pairings will take place on Friday, and these matches will be played on March 8 and 15.
