PyeongChang 2018: Armenia’s Mikayel Mikayelyan ends competition

Armenia’s Mikayel Mikayelyan also has ended his campaign at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The 18-year-old cross-country skier on Friday placed 83rd, from among 116 athletes, in the Men’s 15km Free event. Dario Cologna of Switzerland became the gold medalist in this event.
Mikayelyan on Tuesday had come in 72nd, from among 80 athletes, in the Men’s Sprint Classic.
Katya Galstyan, Armenia’s sole representative in the women’s events, on Thursday had ended her competition at PyeongChang 2018.
The 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics’ participant took part in the Ladies’ 10km Free cross-country skiing competition, and she placed 72nd among 90 athletes.
This was Galstyan’s only competition at PyeongChang 2018. She was to compete also in the Ladies’ Sprint Classic on Tuesday, but her name was not on the final list of participants.
Armenia’s last representative, alpine skier Ashot Karapetyan, is slated to compete in the Men’s Giant Slalom on Sunday, and in the Men’s Slalom on February 22.
A total of 102 medals are up for grabs at PyeongChang 2018, and this is a record in the history of the Olympic Winter Games.
