The Armenian winger has fallen out of favour with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and has been left out of the squad for the last seven games, Daily Star reported.

But despite City’s wealth of attacking options, former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood insists that Pep Guardiola would love to have the 28-year-old at his disposal.

“I think one player who Pep would take out of Manchester United would be Mkhitaryan,” he said on The Debate.

“Without doubt (he’s a Guardiola player), gets the ball, half turn, in the little pockets, drives at people, takes it out to people.”

He added: “He’s a little sharper than Gundogan.

“I think Gundogan’s a little bit more responsible, sits in there ticks it over.

“But I think he’s more of a maverick type, Mkhitaryan.

“When he was at Dortmund he was scary, that’s why every team in the land wanted to have him.

“Now at the moment he’s not getting a game, he’s not even getting in the squad.”
