The leader of Armenian chess, Grandmaster Levon Aronian, has stated that even though 2017 was one of the best years in his career, he wishes to end the year well with good performances at the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships to be held from December 24 to 31, in Saudi Arabia.
“I hope to achieve good results [also] next year, since my performances were quite stable [this year],” r.sport quoted 35-year-old Aronian, who plays first board for the Armenian national chess team. “This year, I also started my family life with my wife, with whom I was dating for a long time. Also, I found some helpful people, with whom I collaborate now.
“For that reason, my expectations from 2018 are success. I believe it’s good when something logically moves to the next phase.”
In 2017, Levon Aronian has won several prestigious chess tournaments, and has become the Chess World Cup 2017 winner and qualified for the Candidates Tournament to determine the challenger for the World Chess Championship.
