By not conceding a goal in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League group stage match against S.L. Benfica (Lisbon, Portugal), PFC CSKA Moscow (Russia) goalkeeper Igor Akinfeev has ended his run of games without a Champions League clean sheet, reported Eurosport.
Until this match, the 31-year-old Russia international had failed to record a shut-out in his following 43 Champions League group stage appearances.
Akinfeev’s last main-draw clean sheet came back on November 1, 2006 against Arsenal, in London.
CSKA Moscow defeated Benfica 2-0 in Wednesday’s match.
