Wimbledon 1998 winner dies of cancer aged 49

The winner of the Wimbledon-1998 tournament, Janna Novotta, died of cancer at the age of 49, BBC reported.

Czech tennis player is the winner of 12 Grand Slam tournaments. During her career, she won over 100 WTA series competitions (24 solo victories). In September 1997, Novotta was the second in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) rankings, and in 1995 she headed WTA doubles rankings.

Janna Novoctan is a three-time winner of the Olympic Games. In 2006 she also received a US citizenship.
