European Championship: Levon Aronian shows the best result at first board
14:39 7 November, 2017Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian showed the best result at the first board at the European Team Chess Championship in Greece and was awarded a gold medal. Gabriel Sargsyan won a silver medal, the official website of the Armenian Chess Federation reported.
The Armenian team shared 12-17 places with 10 points. The Armenian team -- Levon Aronian, Sergey Movsesyan, Gabriel Sargsyan, Hrant Melkumyan and Hovhannes Gabuzyan -- is the 14th on additional indicators.
The Armenian team defeated Switzerland, Greece and Holland, drew with Hungary, Poland and Serbia, and lost to Azerbaijan and Germany in nine rounds.
