World Chess Cup: Armenia’s Aronian plays quick draw with France’s Vachier-Lagrave

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian (Armenia) on Wednesday faced GM Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) in the second classic chess match in the semifinals of the 2017 FIDE World Chess Cup being held in Tbilisi, the capital city of Georgia.

And a draw was recorded in the 19th move.

In Tuesday’s first classic match, the two GMs had agreed to a draw in the 32nd move.
Now, they will play a tiebreaker on Thursday.

Aside from advancing to the final of the 2017 FIDE World Chess Cup, the finalists will also be eligible to compete in the Candidates Tournament, which will be held in the German capital city of Berlin in March 2018, to determine the challenger for the World Chess Championship.

Levon Aronian plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions, Armenia.
