YEREVAN. – Upon returning to Armenia, three-time Greco-Roman wrestling world champion, Rio 2016 Olympics champion Artur Aleksanyan stated that he will not be satisfied with these titles and he will continue to prepare for the next year’s tournaments, with the same enthusiasm.

“We will seek victory,” Aleksanyan said. “Later, I will continue to pursue new titles, and the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games’ champion’s title.

“All the victories are unique; very hard work has been done. There are no easy competitors in world championships. I’m proud to become a three-time world champion.

“Armenian fans were very helpful. Perhaps half of the [wrestling] hall of Paris were Armenians. They were inspiring a lot and giving strength. You would think we were in Armenia. We thank them very much.”

The national Greco-Roman wrestling team of Armenia has won two gold medals—by way of Artur Aleksanyan and Maksim Manukyan—at the 2017 World Wrestling Championships being held in Paris.
