Saint Louis: Armenia’s Aronian to face 13th World Champion Garry Kasparov

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian (Armenia) and 13th World Chess Champion, GM Garry Kasparov (Russia), on Tuesday will face each other in the rapid chess tournament, which is held in the US city of Saint Louis.

They will lock horns in Round 4, which will kick off the second day of this competition.

Rounds 4 to 6 will be played on this day.

After three rounds, Aronian, who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia, shares first to fourth places. Kasparov, who once again is competing in a tournament after a long break, shares fifth to eighth places.

This rapid chess tournament, which is a part of the Grand Chess Tour, will conclude on Wednesday, with Rounds 7 to 9. Subsequently, the blitz tournament will get underway.
