Israel insists on observing a minute of silence in commemoration of 11 Israeli athletes who became victims of terrorist attack 40 years ago during the Munich Olympic Games.

President of International Olympic Committee Jacques Rogge observed a minute of silence in the Olympic Village on Monday.

However, Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danni Ayalon said they demand that a minute of silence should be observed at the Olympic stadium during the opening ceremony.

Back in 1972 Palestinian terrorists from the Black September Organization seized Israeli athletes as hostages.
