Levon Aronian: During my first large tournament Mum lived in bus due to lack of money

Levon Aronian's mother, Seda Sarkisovna, turned 70 on August 9.

After defeating US player Hikaru Nakamura within the framework of Sinquefield Cup underway in St. Louis, US, Aronian referred to the contribution of his mother in his success.

According to him, 23 years ago he won the first large tournament— World Youth Chess Championship U12. His mother was also present there, in Szeged. Hoewver, they had no money for a hotel and she lived in a bus during the entire tournament. Thus, the grandmaster noted that it was twice plesant for him to be able to make his mother happy with his game on her birthday and point out to her input in his success, chess-news reports.
