Varazdat Haroyan: I didn't understand why Köln didn't offer me contract

Forward of the Armenian National Team Varazdat Haroyan on Thursday responded to the questions of Ural press service.

''I had offers from European championships, but the option of Ural was a priority for me. Those championships were apparently inferior to the Russian Premier League. One of the options was the Cyprus championship but this was in no way in line with my ambitions.

Edgar Manucharyan told about me in Ural, and the club representatives invited me for a try-out. Edgar and me have known each other long ago and I am very happy about the fact that my compatriot plays in Ural. This will help me integrate into the team faster. When I was offered a contract after a two-week training camp, I didn't think long, since this is a great move forward in my career!

The first year I appeared in the prime command of Pyunik, Henrikh Mkhitaryan was playing his last season in Armenia, after which he moved to the Ukrainian championship. He outstood by his technique and worked harder than others during the training sessions. I am not suprised by the fact that now he plays for Manchester United.

In 2012, Köln expressed interest in my services, and I even went to Germany for a try-out. I trained with the prime team for several days. Everything was fine but I wasn't offered a contract. Frankly speaking, I didn't understand why. Afterwards, I took part in a try-out in Rostov. The Russian team wanted me to play for it but it didn't manage to agree with Pyunik on the financial terms. There was also an option with Aktobe. I was in Kazakhstan for a week but noting came out of it and I arrived back in Yerevan.

With the arrival of Artur Petrosyan, the atmosphere in the team improved. He knows many of the footballers well and constantly communicates with everyone. He immediately let us know what he wanted to see us doing on the pitch,'' Haroyan said, the official website of Ural reports.
