Grand Chess Tour: Levon Aronian ranks 7th

The blitz round of Grand Chess Tour held in Leuven city of Belgium took place on Friday.

Leader of Armenian chess Levon Aronian ranks 7th with 13 points. World champion Magnus Carlsen is on the lead with 17.5 points.

In the 1st tour of the blitz round, Aronian played with black pieces and lost to French Mazime Vachier-Lagrave. In the second tour he defeated Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine) with white pieces; in the 3rd and 5th tours the Armenian grandmaster beat Georgian Baadur Jobava and Dutch Anish Giri respectively. In the 6th tour he lost to Norwegian Magnus Carlsen, and in the 7th tour Aronian played a draw against American Wesley So. In the 8th tour the leader of the Armenian chess played with black pieces against Viswanathan Anand (India) and in the 9th tour he drew against Russian Vladimir Kramnik.
