Armenia’s Aronian competes in Grand Chess Tour next stage

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian (Armenia) is participating in the Grand Chess Tour next round, which is held from Wednesday to Sunday in Leuven, Belgium.

In this tournament, ten GMs will play one rapid and two blitz chess rounds, informed the Chess Federation of Armenia.

On the first day of the rapid chess event on Wednesday, Aronian—who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia—lost to reining World Champion GM Magnus Carlsen (Norway), and GM Anish Giri (Netherlands), but defeated GM Baadur Jobava (Georgia).

Thursday’s second day of competition will get underway at 4pm Armenia time.
