Norway Chess 2017: Levon Aronian becomes absolute leader

Leader of Armenian chess Levon Aronian has become the absolute leader after the 7th round of the Norway Chess 2017 tournament held in Stavanger city of Norway.

Earlier, Aronian beat former world champion candidate, Russian Sergey Karjakin, gaining 5 points. American Hikaru Nakamura had a chance to reach the Armenian grandmaster but in the 7th round he drew with black pieces against former champion, Indian Viswanathan Anand, gaining 4.5 points.

Russian Vladimir Kramnik and Dutch Anish Giri have 4 points each.

This was Levon Aronian’s third consecutive win. He had drawn in the other games.

In the previous two games, Aronian beat Russian Vladimir Kramnik and World Champion Magnus Carlsen.
In the second to last round, the Armenian grandmaster will play against former champion, Indian Viswanathan Anand.
