In the fourth round of Norway Chess, leader of the Armenian chess Levon Aronian defeated the world champion Magnus Carlsen with white pieces. The game ended on the 35th move.
In the previous three rounds, the grandmaster drew in the games against US representative Fabiano Caruana and Hikaru Nakamura, as well as Dutch Anish Giri. Aronian thus went up to the second line with 2.5 points.
In the fifth round Levon Aronian will play against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
