London 2012 Armenian Olympians: Tigran Martirosyan

YEREVAN.- NEWS.am Sport continues to present the 25 Armenian Olympians.

Tigran Martirosyan, weightlifting (77 kg)

Born on June 9, 1988

Multiple winner of the Junior European championships, two-time winner of the Youth European Championships (2005.2006), champion (2008) and vice-champion (2007) of Europe in the weight category of 69 kg, bronze medalist of the Beijing Olympics, world champion (2010) and vice-champion (2009) in the weight category of 77 kg, the champion of Europe (2010) in the same weight category, the best athlete in Armenia in 2010.

Coach – Ashot Mkhitaryan, national’s coach - Poghos Poghosyan

Tigran Martirosyan:

”Everything was done for a successful performance at the Olympics. Obviously, I will fight for medal. It is important to come to the tournament in good physical shape.”

Poghos Poghosyan:

“Tigran is the leader of our team. We have great expectations. I hope Tigran will add a London gold to his bronze medal of the Beijing games. There are all prerequisites for us to expect a gold medal.”

Tigran Martirosyan will start competitions on August 1.
