Armenia GM Ashot Anastasian dies at 52

Armenian chess Grandmaster (GM) Ashot Anastasian has passed away at the age of 52.
The 8-time winner of the Armenian Chess Championship was born on July 16, 1964, in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

Anastasian had received the chess GM title in 1993.

He competed in six Chess Olympiads, as part of the Armenian national team.
In July, Ashot Anastasian took second place at the World Team Chess Championship 50+, 65+ 2016, which was held in Dresden, Germany.
