Tal Memorial chess tournament: Armenia’s Aronian second in blitz

Grandmaster (GM) Levon Aronian, who plays first board for the three-time World Chess Olympiad champions and the former World Team Chess champions Armenia, on Sunday placed second in the blitz competition at the 10th Tal Memorial chess tournament, in Moscow.

Aronian will face GM Boris Gelfand (Israel) in Monday’s Round 1 of the main competition of this tournament devoted to GM Mikhail Tal (USSR), the eighth World Chess Champion.

The prize money at the 10th Tal Memorial is US$200 thousand.
