YEREVAN. – I will continue to be in sports. I will train and try to conquer new heights. I will rest before resuming training, and fix up my injuries.

Reining European champion and 2015 World Championship bronze medalist gymnast Harutyun Merdinyan (Armenia), who placed 7th in the final of the men’s pommel horse competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics that were held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, stated the aforesaid at a press conference on Wednesday.

“The tension and the wrist pain didn’t bother me so much; I’ve participated in competitions with injuries all my life,” said Merdinyan. “It seems to me, perhaps the problem was not fully recovering and being overtired.

“I guess I was physically exhausted, and this was the reason that I couldn’t fully collect my strength and cleanly perform my exercise.”
