Euro 2016: Ronaldo: Portugal will win their first title in Paris

14:32   9 July, 2016

Portugal national team captain and forward Cristiano Ronaldo is confident that his squad will win in the final of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016, which is wrapping up in France.
The match to be played in Paris against the host nation will be Ronaldo’s second European Championship final.

In the Euro 2004 final, Portugal, including then 19-year-old Ronaldo, had lost 0-1 at home to the underdogs, Greece.

Ronaldo, however, has gone on to win everything at club level.

“It’s [i.e. winning the European Championship] something that I always dreamed of,” the UEFA official website quoted the Portuguese football star as saying. “It would be a huge achievement if I could win something with Portugal. My fingers are crossed because I believe, my colleagues believe, all of Portugal believes, and the Portuguese community in France believe too.”

“We have to believe positively,” he emphasized. “On Sunday it will be the first time that Portugal are going to win an important trophy.”

The France-Portugal Euro 2016 final on Sunday will kick off at 11pm, Armenia standard time.
