Euro 2016: Fan fined and deported from France for invading pitch for Ronaldo

Swiss fan Shamshir Karimi, who had invaded the pitch during the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro 2016 quarterfinal between Portugal and Poland, was deported from France, which is hosting this event.

In addition, Karimi was fined €500, and forbidden from returning to France in the next month, according to Goal.com.

The supporter had raced onto the field in the 110th minute of extra time in the game, and in an attempt to come near Portugal national team captain and FC Real Madrid (Spain) forward Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a Marseille courtroom, the Swiss fan spoke of how his actions were fuelled by the fact that Ronaldo is his “idol.”
