Armenia’s Amoyan could not qualify for Olympics

Armenian national Greco-Roman wrestling team member Roman Amoyan was unable to qualify for the 2016 Summer Olympics that will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the final rating tournament that kicked off in Istanbul, Turkey, Amoyan (59kg) began his campaign in qualifying round, but he lost to his Turkish opponent.

In the Istanbul tournament, only finalists qualify for the Summer Games.

Roman Amoyan was Armenia’s sole Greco-Roman wrestler in this competition.

As a result, the Greco-Roman wrestling team of Armenia have four Olympic qualifications.

Separately, three members of the Armenian national freestyle wrestling team have already qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics.
