European weightlifting champions Team Armenia return home (PHOTOS)

Armenia’s men’s and women’s national teams, which captured first place in team standings at the 2016 European Weightlifting Championships, returned home from Norway at night, the NEWS.am Sport reporter informed.

Ceremoniously welcoming Armenia’s champions at Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan, the capital city, has become a tradition.

Team Armenia took first place in the total medal count at the European Weightlifting Championships, as they won 8 gold, 7 silver, and 3 bronze medals.

Andranik Karapetyan (Men’s 77kg), Nazik Avdalyan (Women’s 69kg) and Hripsime Khurshudyan (Women’s +75kg) were crowned European champions, Tigran Martirosyan (Men’s 77kg) and Gor Minasyan (Men’s +105kg) became silver medalist, and 19-year-old Simon Martirosyan (Men’s 105) won a bronze medal at this event.
